Each year the humpback whales make their journey up and then back down our east coast of Australia. The most common time for sightings at Rose Bay, are the months of June, July and August. Sometimes they can be sighted early in May and late in September.

It is wonderful to watch a mother and calf float, or see the males jump and flap their tales on the water. I remember one time driving out to Rose Bay Resort, and just as you get to the crest of the hill and view the sea, there was a whale shooting a spout of water into the air. Magic.
